Chapter 1170: Contrary
Welcome back everyone!!! This week we have returned from break with a long-awaited chapter. This week we pick up back at the royal castle where Loki is being attacked by Ragnir. Loki is under the influence that this hammer is being thrown by someone, but we find out quickly that it is moving on its own. Harald tells everyone that the legendary fruit in the castle was not eaten because no one wanted too, but because Ragnir did not view anyone as worthy. I only partially buy this though because I have seen Haralds fights in this flashback, and I have a hard time believing that he would lose to a hammer. This is just my opinion and Harald goes on to state that he believes he can take the devil fruit by force with his new powerup. Unfortunately for Harald Shanks and Gaban are in his way.
Shanks and Gaban are stalling Harald this chapter and even chop off his giant ass foot in the first panel they are fighting. Gaban is telling Shanks that the secret to injuring the holy knights is how you use your Conqueres Haki. If you use it correctly and attack them enough it will put them out of commission. While hopping around this giant castle Gaban tells Shanks that they had to stop the holy knights from taking him back multiple times in the past, but that this experience was different seeing as Harald can also use Conquerors Haki. Now that Harald has taken the new oath, they fear that they will have to leave it up to Loki although I have a sneaking suspicion that they could stop Harald if they needed to.
We flash back to Loki who is getting increasingly annoyed at Ragnir and finally decides to attack. We see him infusing his hammer with Conquerors and bashing it as hard as he can ultimately destroying his current hammer. Loki seems upset, but as we see Ragnir take a few hops it transforms into a squirrel with a hammer on its head and a giant bump. This was one of my favorite parts of the chapter because it has been a long time since we have seen a weapon eat a devil fruit. What fruit this is I am not sure, but after that massive bonk on the head Ragnir accepts Loki just in time for the final fight.
Loki eats the legendary fruit, and we get a small silhouette of his hand becoming a claw before Harald realizes and tells him to show him the legendary power. What occurs next can only be described as the ass beating of a lifetime for Harald. The man slashed cut and bashed and we get another silhouette of Loki, but it is hard to be certain what the fruit is. Loki transforms back to normal because another fun fact is that if you get your ass beat this bad Imu's control weakens because Harald regains his sanity for a few moments.
Harald uses his regained sanity to tell Loki that it is too late for him. He has caused to much damage for him to ever be King again. Poor Loki tells him that he will never forgive him, and Harald can only say that he loves him too. In an epic double page, we see Loki balling while he smashes Harald to pieces with a Conquerors infused attack.... To be continued
This chapter was a roller coaster. I love that we are getting more information on the holy knights and how to take them down and it seems like Loki is going to play a huge role once we exit this flashback. When Ragnir moved the previous chapter I thought that it might just have a will of its own and kind of move like Thor's does when he summons it. I hope we find out more about how it ate a devil fruit or if this squirrel ate the fruit and turned into Ragnir. Either way this is probably the strongest squirrel of all-time.... Anyway, this chapter concluded beautifully, and I can only assume that next week after a long time away from the Strawhats and Luffy we will be returning to the present. Stay tuned because I am as excited as ever for next week's installment.
