Chapter 1166 "New Stories" Review Spoilers!!!

..... A moment of silence because the day is finally here. Rocks D Xebec was set to rest this chapter, and I am not sure I will recover. I didn't know what to expect going into this backstory, but I can tell you with 1000% certainty that I did not expect to feel this way about Rocks. I along with most of the readers thought that Rocks was going to be a villain like his son and completely unlikeable. Boy was I wrong. This man spent his life trying to find a way to change the world and although he did not take down the still silloueted IMU he did shape the characters we have come to know with his actions. Lets go ahead and get into this chapter step by step.

This chapter starts right after the last one ended and our boy Rocks has reverted back to his formal self. I was very happy to see that he got his mind back just for it to be ripped away from me by that Fraud Garling!! I was gutted to see him be the one delivering the final blow especially after getting torched by rocks only a few chapters ago. Rogers and Garp were able to escape during this time thanks to Raleigh and Gaban and part of me wonders what adventures this crew would have had if Garp joined them.

We move on to see that God Valley has officially disappeared only to be remembered by a select few. I along with the rest of world reacted to Rocks defeat and we all knew what happened after this. Rocks was painted as a monster and Garp has officially become the hero of the Navy. It was encouraging to see that Garp is still pissed about what happened at Gods Valley and I expect him to join the fight against IMU. One person that is not apparently going to fight against IMU is Harald who also heard of Rocks defeat.

If you remember this flashback is actually supposed to be about Harald and after about 10 chapters, we are continuing his story. Harald along with the rest of the world finds out about Rocks death and immediacy starts making poor decisions. He beats up a giant just to be canceled in the news immediately after. It turns out Harald really cared about Rocks but apparently learned nothing. We learn in a quick flashback that Rocks was never planning on giving up on Harald in my opinion because the giants are required to take down IMU. The mysterious giant Galleila is mentioned once again and is no doubt going to play a hugeroll in the closing arc on OnePiece.

The final pages of this chapter close up by showing a rightfully pissed off Dragon tell Garp that he is leaving the Marines. We know that Dragon eventually creates the Revolutionaries we know today, but I am hoping our next interaction with this character are the years between. Finally we pan over to Harald who is begging the Government to forgive him and even pulls out his own horns. He mentions his willingness to become a slave for the betterment of the Giants and this is without a doubt a foreshadowing of his future "Domi Reversi".

This chapter was a fine conclusion to what has been an amazing backstory. I know this is not the end of the flashback, but it sets us up with a teaser of what's to come. The focus next week is going to shift back to Harald and I am really hoping he does something to redeem his horrible decisions so far. I know he wants the best for the giants, but becoming a slave of the World Government feels like the worst one that could be made.
